Butterfly Handglider

There’s something about mice, they’re kinda cute, but ugly. They must appeal to a wide range of others, as there are a number of companies that have had success with their designs, including Penny Black and Katzelkraft. This is a ‘House Mouse’ from Stampendous. After colouring it in and matting it, I adhered it to a background done with Distress Stain sprays. I added some glitter glue to the butterfly wings.

Coffee helps

Life happens… coffee helps.

I haven’t forgotten all you coffee lovers out there. This is another Distress Stain spray background with a fineCopper shimmer mist over it. The cup is from the Scrapcosy 16 set used in recent posts. The ‘coffee’ wording is a die. Other stamps are loose and not sure of their origin sorry. I actually stamped the beans out onto scrap paper, then cut them out to place in position, as I wasn’t confidant they’d stand out against the dark background. I then covered them in Glossy Accents. Really love the rich colours of this one.

Tea Break

Time to sit and drink a brew, and linger over thoughts of you.

This Distress Stain spray background has a fine gold shimmer (Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearl) mist over it, radiating from that one spot at the bottom of the card peeping out from behind the rock. Not sure whether to credit it to a rising or setting sun, or the glow from his bonfire. I actually rubbed some gold chalk over the spot to emphasise it more.

“Just living is not enough,” said the butterfly, ” one must have sunshinefreedom, and a little flower.” – Hans Christian Andersen

So apparently there ARE worse things than being isolated at home alone – being stuck in a small space with numerous children who are bored silly and constantly bickering with one another, haha!! Sorry. I have added another board to my Pinterest site called ‘Crafty Ideas’. Hopefully there will something on there to inspire an activity your child could do with what’s lying around the house.

Meanwhile, I’m sending a little fairy to add cheer to your day.

Rose Bed

Here are two cards I made using the same swirly rose die. The orange one above uses only a portion of the die. After cutting it out in white, I simply placed an alternative colour card behind the cut-out. After pushing all the little segments of leaves and petals out, I glued the rose outlines back into place.

For the pink card below, I cut the whole die out twice, one in white and one in light brown card. I placed the pink scripted paper behind the brown card background, but glued the white rose outlines in instead. When my card was completely assembled, I highlighted the bottom right rose only with Glossy Accents and sprinkled crystal glitter over.

Waratah

This Waratah design is from Stampin’Up’s discontinued “Bloom Away” set.

Sometimes I feel uncomfortable with empty spaces looking at me and get the urge to fill them. That’s what happened with this card, I just kept adding things to it, hard to know when to stop.

__________________________________________________

The Waratah stamp used on the 2 cards below is from KaiserCraft set ‘Road Trip’.

The butterfly stamp is from Magenta and the wording from Stamp-it.

This next one has turned out to be one of my favourites I think.

I inked up an acrylic block with pink down the middle and yellow around the outside. Spritz with water then stamp out. The colours will bleed together a bit creating an orange/red tone. Dry.

Colour in waratah with colour pencils, adding smears of Buttercup Liquid Pearls to flower head. When dry, cut out flower head as one, and all leaves individually. Magic Mount flower head to corner of inked rectangle, gluing leaves into place separately.

I found the background in my infamous ‘box’ of pre-done ones. The colours matched (would have been Distress Stain Sprays) so just stamped Penny Black ‘Classic Border’ 2005J down side and attached layers to complete card. Friendship stamp is from Hero Arts set ‘Hand Drawn Captions’ LL020.

Reverse Butterfly Collage 2

butterfly formation 012My 2nd card using my new Memory Box die # 99145 Reverse Butterfly Collage. The wording is “Happiness is When” 2440C by Stamp-it.

Cut out the die in white matt card. Place a larger piece of card beneath which has been coloured with Dylusion ink sprays (Lemon Zest, Squeezed Orange and Postbox Red) leaving a border of the coloured card showing around it . Mount this onto folded black backing card.

Cut out butterfly pattern again on scrap of white matt card. It doesn’t have to be a very big piece of card as you don’t want the whole pattern, only a small section of it. I chose the middle-left part to highlight as there was space there to add a wording. Use texters directly onto rubber stamp to colour wording (so all the words can be different colours). Cut your chosen section to desired size and matt onto piece of black card. Magic Mount onto card front, lining up with butterfly images beneath. Fix adhesive rhinestones of pink and orange in place for butterfly heads.butterfly formation 013

Peachy Girl

I thought I’d make a few more kids cards while I was in the zone. As usual, I got to the 3/4 stage and then came to a standstill. I struggled to find coordinating backing cards, and I wanted to add a little something more to it, but couldn’t decide what worked. In the end, I used a stencil pattern over the sprayed Dylusions background around the main image. Normally I would spritz water through the stencil then quickly dry with paper towel, but that method can be a little messy and it’s hard to control where the water goes. So I used a “wet one” instead. That way I could pick which parts of the stencil I wanted to emphasise and where to place the design. This worked well, and I am quite happy the way it turned out. Got a little zealous whilst sponging around the perimeter with Sepia ink though, so had to add an extra butterfly or two. All good. No such thing as mistakes in art… (is there?).

Coloured with pencils; Glossy Accents added to peach.
