Give me a home among the gum trees please…

Two different but similar cards using Kaszazz’s ‘Silhouette Kangaroos’ stamp 6249K. The kangaroos on the right, I cut out by hand (which was not fun. I hope they bring out a matching die one day!). The small solid eucalypt leaves are also from Kaszazz. I used some Espresso Liquid Pearls over the nuts to highlight. The open gumleaves and outback house stamps are from Stamp-it. The Windmill die is from Paper Rose but the water tank die was a cut-out given to me years ago and not sure what company it’s from sorry. The backgrounds were created using Distress Stain Sprays Evergreen Bough, Seedless Preserves & Dusty Concord.

In the lead up to Australia Day, thought I’d do some cards featuring our native kangaroos.

stamps: ‘Silhouette Kangaroos’ 6249K from Kaszazz; ‘Acacia Branch’ CO727991 from Couture Creations; ‘Australian Outback’ and both ‘Happy Birthday’ wordings from Stamp-it.

Re-visiting one of my favourite ways to colour backgrounds, using an acrylic block. I love it when the dribbles run over the edges.

I used chalks and watercolour pencils to colour in, highlighting plants with Liquid Pearls.

Below is another card using the same kangaroo stamp, together with an Australian Outback scene (from Stamp-it), but not the same background technique obviously. I applied some Silver Liquid Pearl with a thin paintbrush to the iron roof of the building, and Silver Fab Foil to the wire fence line.

Santa in Sun 004Feeling very patriotic this Christmas, may have something to do with all the terrorist activities around the world. Makes you appreciate home more than ever.

To make this card I cut the shape of Australia out of an Ellison die in matt white card. Next stamp outback scene with house siset111 in black Archival ink onto it. Colour in with watercolour pencils and chalks. Blend colours where needed with a waterbrush. Sponge around the edge with sepia ink. Stamp Kangaroo Sleigh 4919D in black Archival ink across top of Australia. With the help of a t-grid, stamp kangaroo sleigh again onto kraft card beneath making sure your kangaroos line up.

Glue Australia onto kraft card (don’t forget Tasmania!!). Sponge around kraft card with sepia ink also, then do edges only in Walnut Distress Ink. Adhere kraft card onto matting of Maraschino Bazzill Card, then backing of Lily Pad Bazzill card. Stamp Christmas Down Under 3935D in black Archival ink at base of card.
