Artful Gumleaves

I never get tired of creating cards using this old Stamp-it design of framed eucalyptus leaves. For the red card, I just stamped the design onto some card which I’d coloured with Distress Stain sprays (Wild Honey, Fired Brick & Cracked Pistachio). I used a combination of watercolour pencils and chalks to colour in with, then added Rouge Liquid Pearls to highlight the flowers and some Wild Honey Distress Stickles on the gumnuts. I love the green of the central leaf veins in this one.

The blue card I did in a similar way, stamping onto a Distress Oxide background (Salty Ocean, Carved Pumpkin & Squeezed Lemonade). I embossed the script wording behind with Distress powders. I just used watercolour pencils to colour the leaves and gumnuts, and Cantaloupe Liquid Pearls over the gumnut flowers.

This is a print from my gelli-plate that was somewhat unsuccessful – but there’s no such thing as mistakes in Art is there? So I kept it, and I have Used it! Happier with it now 🙂

Another lockdown, another day in the craft room. Gotta feel sorry for those people without hobbies.

I am on a mission to use up some of my scraps, as my drawers are overflowing. Most are too small to use as a border all the way around, but I am not averse to combining patterns and textures together of smaller bits which hopefully compliment the focal design. I have stamped my images onto what would have been the 2nd or 3rd lift from some stenciled gelli-plate prints, so the patterns are a little faint or incomplete, but still interesting.

Write me a Letter

In this age of technology, writing letters is a dying art – and don’t even get me started on penmanship and correct spelling! It used to be quite exciting getting a letter in the mail. Now I suppose we get parcels instead (from our on-line orders) which may be even more exciting, especially if they’re a new stamp or die, haha.

The background was done with Distress Oxide inks. The ‘Dearest Friend’ stamp 17421 is by Paper Rose; the ‘Carte Postale’ L517L is a Lost Art Penny Black stamp; the ‘mini bug’ 1813a is also by Penny Black. I cut out a couple of the Gumnuts and Gumleaves die, and chopped and changed them around a bit.

Blue Birdy

It’s a bit like groundhog day around here at the moment – eat, sleep, make cards, repeat. I do love making cards, but will be happy when I am feeling better and will be too busy to do so.

This is the sequel to my previous post, being the other bird in Tim Holtz ‘Feathered Friends’ set. Same method for the background too, just used different Distress ink colours (Tumbled Glass, Bundled Sage & Crushed Olive).

The bird nest stamp is an old PSX, the gumleaves from ScrapDragon, and I can’t remember what company the ‘smile’ die is from sorry, but know I bought it from the Scrapbook Store in North Perth.
