Red Leaf

Kept thinking of my Mum while making this card. She suffers from dementia, and is not going so well these days. I am hoping that all her memories are still locked inside of her somewhere. She sometimes gets a far off look in her eye and a little smile on her face, so maybe she’s looking through her memories then.

I struggle to conform to standard size cards, so this one I was determined to put onto a C6 folded card. That didn’t leave me any room to matt it though, so I ran a clear embossing ink pad along each edge and embossed it with gold embossing powder instead.

The background for this card, started off the same as the one I used for my recent ‘Wooden Boat’ post. I wished later that I had gold embossed my ‘Falling Leaves’ stamp instead of stamping it in black, as it is so fine. I painted the little leaves in gold.

This is a new release script stamp from Kaszazz called ‘Listen’ 6502J, which I gold embossed over a Distress Stain spray background. I also added a spritz of Lindy’s Starburst ‘Jack in the Pulpit Teal’ which gives it that lovely turquoise shimmer when the light catches it (hard to photograph sorry). Apart from the beautiful wording, I love the font they’ve used. The Wildflower stamp along the bottom is from a ‘Quick Cards’ magazine, and the little butterfly from Stamp-it.

I tried it again on the fairy card below (though didn’t quite get the layout right).

Orange Poinsettia

Poinsettia’s are a tropical plant with groups of bright red (or white) leaves that look like flowers. It is a favourite at Christmas time. The shape of the ‘flower’ is thought to symbolise the Star of Bethlehem, which led the Wise Men to Jesus. The red colored leaves symbolise the blood of Christ, the white ones, his purity.

This is my last posting for the year. I wish you all a safe and happy holiday season, and all the best for 2021. Hope to catch up with you then. Enjoy!

Holly Wreaths

To anyone who has just hopped onto my blog to check it out, welcome! I apologise for my lack in social graces at times. I’m usually working on it late at night, trying to get things up as quickly as I can. It ALWAYS takes me much longer than anticipated anyway, tackling the computers genius with my ambivalent brain, trying to move my pictures into place again, and then again!!

Sometimes, as in this case, I have a series of cards along the same theme, but there are too many to put in the same post, so I split them up. They are just a continuation of the past few posts though, so I haven’t given them each an individual introduction.

Without further ado, here are my last two wreath cards using the same stamp “Holly Wreath” 2393E

Christmas Wreath - suedeFor this card, I ironed the stamp pattern onto some green suede paper. I will explain in detail how to do this in my next post. The red bow was cut out of red suede and glued onto the wreath. After assembling my layers (red corrugated card, gold mesh, Gecko Bazzill Card), I added dots of Christmas Red Stickles for the berries.

golden wreathThe wreath and Christmas wording were both stamped with a clear embossing pad, had fine gold embossing powder added, then were heat set with a heatgun. The bow I coloured in with pink/red texters, then added Star Dust Stickles over the top. The berries were coloured with Christmas Red & Magenta Stickles.
