My posts may be a little sporadic and short on commentary over the next few weeks sorry. My mother has been sitting in the ‘departure lounge’ for many months now, but I think the time has come for her to fly. Thinking of her in happier days, tending to her beautiful garden.

The autumn leaves of red and gold

Sscrunched leaf 002tamps: ” Old Letter” CG197 by Hero Arts

Dies: Sizzix Tattered Leaves 656927

Inks:  Plum, Sepia & Coffee Archival pads; Antique Linen, Rusty Hinge & Crushed Olive Distress pads; Crushed Olive & Tarnished Bronze Distress Stain Sprays; Ink Refresher; Zig Black Pen

Papers: Ivory matt card (10.1×9.6cm), burgundy (10.6×10.1cm), rust (10.8×11.5cm), green backing card (13x26cm), scrap of ivory card

Start with plain ivory card and sponge it with Antique Linen and Rusty Hinge Distress inks using a sponging block.  Stamp “Old Letter” in Plum ink. Spritz lightly with Crushed Olive & Bronze Distress Spays. Dry with heatgun.  Sponge around edges with Sepia ink.

Cut out leaf from Tattered Leaves die in ivory scrap. Sponge Distress inks over to colour. Dry with heatgun. Spritz with Ink Refresher. Scrunch up while wet, then shape and dry with heatgun. You want the leaf to be textured looking and curvy, but still flat enough to easily attach to your card. Freehand, draw border around edge of leaf with Black Zig Pen. Spritz leaf lightly with Bronze Distress Spray. Attach leaf to card front.

Layer finished card front onto burgundy matting. Attach width of rust card behind at left and fix to green backing card.

Unstrung

“I have spent my day stringing and unstringing my instrument,

while the song I came to sing remains unsung”.

unstrung 009

I can so relate to this sentiment (and I’m sure I’m not the only one), especially once I set foot into my craft room. I go in there with the specific intention of making someone a birthday card, and I potter about doing this and that, and before I know it – time’s up – and I still haven’t made the card!! Doh!

Stamps used: Musician 2655G by Judikins; wording J2-998 by Stamper’s Anonymous; Music “It is written” 10105759 by Bo Bunny

Stencils: Harlequin THS016 by Stamper’s Anonymous

The thing I like about this card is that it is ageless and can be given to either a girl or a boy, depending on your colour palette (this one leans more to the masculine I think).

The background card has been coloured using Distress ink sprays “Evergreen Bough, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Forest Moss”. All images were stamped with Jet Black Archival ink. Musician was coloured with pencils and parts highlighted with Liquid Pearls. Banner was created from hand cut triangles of Bo Bunny paper. Background harlequin design from Black Soot Distress sprayed through stencil. Any questions don’t hesitate to email me at artatticstudio@gmail.com

Father’s Lighthouse

Father's Lighthouse “A Father is neither an anchor to hold us back nor a sail to take us there, but a guiding light whose love shows us the way”. Happy Father’s Day card for my dear old Dad. I actually thought it was this Sunday, so I’m way ahead of the game for a change.

“Father Guides” 3820E by Stamp-it

I wet the watercolour paper, then coloured the bottom half with ink sprays (Dylusion: Dirty Martini & Calypso Teal; Distress: Evergreen Bough), then while still wet, ran the dropper from Distress re-inker bottles Spiced Marmalade & Walnut Stain across middle. Set aside to dry. I stamped the lighthouse onto clear film with black StazOn pad, stamped it again onto scrap of white card, which I coloured in and cut out to lay over image on film. I stamped the waves onto scrap of mulberry paper which I tore along bottom and glued at base of lighthouse. I used glossy accents over the glass top of lighthouse. Then because I had used clear film, but didn’t want to spoil the look with split pins in each corner to attach the layers, I had to cut a frame out and mount over to cover up my 2-sided foam tape. Attached the complete frame then onto teal backing card.
