Kookaburra circle

Apologies for my long leave of absence without giving notice, sometimes life just gets in the way. And you’d think having had that break, I’d come back all refreshed and full of creative ideas, but I find just the opposite is true, that it usually takes me a while for the creative juices to start flowing again. That’s my excuse anyway, for why I had to go out and buy myself a new toy in the shape of this “Honeysuckle Plant” 21201 Paper Rose die. I combined it with an old Stamp-it Kookaburra stamp and a Hero Arts wording for this card. The background and plant were sponged with Distress Oxide inks Bundled Sage, Speckled Egg & Crushed Olive. I used Buttercup Liquid Pearls to highlight plant tips.

It’s great having a box of backgrounds already done up that you can select from when needing a quick card. This is a Distress Oxide background I used in conjunction with some Lavinia stamps and a Hero Arts wording.

There appears to be a theme happening here, but it won’t last, as I have already changed direction. I like to mix things up a bit.

This background was created by smooshing Distress Oxide inks onto a Teflon mat, spritzing with water, then placing my white card over to colour. The moose and tree designs are by Lavinia stamps, the birds are from the Tim Holtz ‘Scarecrow’ die set, and the wording I just did on the computer.

I just love this card, definitely one of my favourites! The background was created by squishing Distress Oxide pads directly onto a Teflon mat, spritzing lightly with water, then placing white card over to colour.

stamps: ‘Bike Ride’ E8723 and ‘What if you Fly?’ D13445 both by Impression Obsession

inks: Distress Oxide – Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade & Cracked Pistachio

Still at the beach, still having fun playing with Distress Oxide inks and different ways of applying them. I am thinking of holding a limited number of “Background Technique” classes in my home studio for those in the Perth area if there is enough interest. If you’d like to book one, please email me at artatticstudio@gmail.com with preferred time slots.

The silhouette dies used on all 3 cards are from Frantic Stamper #09929 “Three Surfers”. Stamps used are “Free Spirit” 737LH by Lucy’s Stamps; “True North” D17105 by Impression Obsession. The last one was custom made.

Ever made a card that you really like and you don’t think you can part with straight away? I didn’t intentionally create these 3 cards as a set, but I think they go quite nicely together and thought I’d try framing them so I can look at them a bit longer before selling off. (Might have to get some slightly larger frames. I have just laid these on top to give you the idea).

I really love this Reef Border die D1385 by Hero Arts. The backgrounds for both cards were created by sponging blue to green Distress Oxide inks across white card, then splashing with a few droplets of water (bit more obvious in the below card). The seal and turtles were taken from an All Night Media stamp and the Happy Birthday is by Stamp-it. The Mermaid below is from a Stampin-Up set.
