Christmas Baby?

I’m not sure if this card is supposed to be a baby card or a Christmas card, it’s a bit of a hybrid. I find card making very therapeutic, and sometimes use symbolism to work through issues that are personal to me at the time. My mother’s passing marked the end of an era for our family. My focus now will be on the younger generations coming up. She was mother to 5, grandmother to 11 (soon to be 12) and great-grandmother to 1. Her middle name was JOY. This card shows the circle of life – we are born, we live and grow, then we die. I will always remember my mother with much LOVE, but am glad she is now resting in PEACE.

Another circle, but the focus for this post is on the use of stencils for your backgrounds.

Before gluing branches and Magic Mounting baby into place, flick some silver Alcohol ink over inner circle with a paintbrush to represent stars. I then added a little silver star shape. Sponge all around outer edge of card with ‘Shaded Lilac’ Distress ink. Apply ‘Dream’ rub-on.

Using Tim Holtz Alterations Framework “Honeycomb” siz659430 die, I cut 4 co-ordinating sheets from a Basic Grey mini paper pad “Two Scoops”. I stamped the little bumble bee across 2 pale pink hexagon shapes, then sponged sepia ink around all the edges. Using the frame to help ensure the spacing was even, I mixed and matched the colours until happy with their arrangement. After gluing down the hexagons, I removed the frame, as I felt it made the card look too heavy. I stamped the wording (from Hero Arts) across top of card, and Magic Mounted Gumnut baby at bottom.
