Two more cards using this particular Tim Holtz die. The girl, bee and wish stamps are from Stampin’ Up. The kite I made myself, and the gold Happy Birthday is a sticker.

And then I added a bird (from Tim Holtz “Feathered Friends” die set siz664433) to the card from my last post.

‘Bee happy’ hexagons

Happiness is a choice. Choose to be happy. I need to listen to my own advise a bit more often. Life is full of too many distractions, we forget to focus on ourselves sometimes.

I got the inspiration for this design from a window I pass at the exit of the freeway. Strangely, I can’t remember what the business is actually about, (nothing to do with honey products) but the graphics on their window of grey, gold & black hexagons, always catches my eye. I thought it would make a nice feature on a male card.

Be my Honey

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I have made this card especially for you, to add a little sweetness to your day. Much too soppy for me to give my husband, haha.

The bee stamp is from Prima’s Stamp-n-add “Moth Wings”. There were 2 designs in the set, 2 bodies and 2 wings that you stamp separately. After stamping it out, I added Glossy Accents to the wings, sprinkling glitter on whilst still wet. The wording I just did on the computer.

The honeycomb is from one of Tim Holtz/Sizzix “Mixed Media” die sets. I cut it out on 2-sided sticker paper. After positioning the individual pieces onto my card, I lay some mulit-coloured Gilding flakes over. The flakes stuck to the sticky shapes, then I brushed the excess off with a stiff paint brush. I didn’t realise until I’d completed the card, that I’d laid the honeycomb shapes in a different direction on the bottom, than I had on the top. Oops. No time to re-do now.

Magnify the little things

Sometimes in our busy lives, we just need to PAUSE, and reflect on all the little blessings we have to be grateful for, and remember to bee … happy.

My last cup of tea for now (artistically speaking). I don’t usually do more than 4 cards in any one theme at a time, but I was on a roll with this one – such a great subject matter! And I already have a few backgrounds started for when I next take it up again.

Hello Spring! Bring on the sunshine!!

Main die is ‘Bountiful Sunflower’ by Memory Box; ‘Enjoy’ by Cheery Lynn Designs. ‘Bee’ stamp is by Stampin’ Up and ‘Script Corner’ by Stamp-it.

After cutting out the sunflower in white card, I sponged Distress inks (Spiced Marmalade, Brushed Corduroy and Peeled Paint) over to colour. I added the little pieces of the petals back into the framework and coloured to match.

I placed dots of glue into the holes of the sunflower head, then poured Ultra Fine Black Flowersoft over. Push gently into the glue with fingertips. Shake off excess back into pot.

I cut out a 2nd flower and sponged to match original. I then cut the flower head and petals out separately. The flower head I sponged a darker brown along top edge, the petals I sprayed with ‘Sunflower Sparkle’ Perfect Pearl Mist and bent the petals upwards.

I glued the flower head into place, then did the same with the petals, offsetting them slightly. I also glued the second stem and extra leaves over original, gluing down stem only so leaves lifted.

I sprayed Distress inks onto a Teflon mat then ran Unryshi paper through, scrunching it up a bit, then spread out to dry. When dry, glue onto backing card with Matt glue, wrinkling as you go to create texture. Use the Matt glue on top also to seal any folds or wrinkles into place. Set aside to dry. When dry, cut card to size and sponge edges with sepia ink.

Cut wording out of gold foilboard and glue into place. Stamp bee in black at top right. Stamp bee a 2nd time onto scrap card, colour in and cut out body only. Magic Mount bee body over original. Glossy Accent top wings. Set aside to dry. When wings are dry, place dot of glue to bee’s head and cover with Black Flowersoft. Set aside to dry.

When dry, add corner mattings of black card and glue onto background. Attach finished card front to folded backing  card of Mustard colour.

A few more little cards from my flower series. I wasn’t going to bother putting them up, but the sunflower card with the bee links in nicely with my next few posts to come – featuring other insects (bugs and butterflies).
