Boys at the Beach

The first day of winter and it looks like being a cold and wet one this year. It was only a few weeks ago I was enjoying a sunny walk on the beach. It inspired me to create these 3 little cards using stamps from various companies I have of boys playing on the beach.

Keeping it simple, I created a background with Distress Stain Sprays Scattered Straw & Tumbled Glass. The little boy is from a Stampin’ Up set. I coloured him in with watercolour pencils.

I sprayed a strip of white card with a combination of blue Distress inks (Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass & Stormy Sky), then set aside to dry. When dry, I stippled clear embossing ink through a shell stencil. Lifted the stencil carefully to avoid smudging pattern, then poured white embossing powder over and heat set.

The little boy is a Dina Kowal design by Impression Obsession, which I cut into a circle after colouring with watercolour pencils. I sponged sepia ink around all panels, before assembling layers.

I just love how this card turned out! The background was created with Tumbled Glass & Antique Linen Distress Stain Sprays. The wordings and sandcastle were stamped over in light coloured complimentary inks. The little boy was stamped onto a separate card, coloured in, then fussy cut and glued into position.
