Diagram of a Dragonfly

One of my favourite stamps, in my favourite colours!! What’s not to like? This was a very popular Stamper’s Anonymous design P1-622 (woodmount), which I think is also available in one of their sets.

It seems I can’t get away from inky backgrounds, of which this is another! After the Distress Stain sprays I used had dried, I laid a circle stencil over the left half and spritzed water through it. Lift the stencil off after a few seconds and immediately dry card with paper towel. The water will have ‘bleached’ the colour from the inks and left a pale pattern of the stencil design behind.

After stamping my image onto the coloured card, I stamped the wings only in Black StazOn ink onto some clear film. I fussy cut the wings out (keeping the section of the body between, which connects them. This will help to secure the wings to the card). I bent the wings upwards and glued the clear film underneath the body area of the dragonfly between the wings, to the card. Using Gold Liquid Pearls, I created a squiggly line down the body of the dragonfly to indicate it’s segmentation, making sure to well cover the clear film strip connecting the 2 sets of wings on either side. I also added some thin lines of gold to the Libellule Dragonfly circle at left. After the gold Liquid Pearls had dried, I applied Glossy Accents to the circle too, then 2 small black rhinestones for the eyes of the dragonfly.
