Against a Brick Wall

‘H’ stands for ‘Happy’ I have decided (the symbol on his coat). A birthday card for a special young man. There seems to be a bit of a colour scheme happening lately. I don’t know why I always tend to lean towards the brown tones when doing cards for men. I will try and do something different next card 🙂

For the background, I first sprayed my card with ‘Tea Dye’ Distress ink, before placing it inside a brick embossing folder. I covered the uppermost flap with ‘Walnut Stain’ Distress ink, then lightly spritzed it with water before quickly closing the folder and embossing it through the Big Shot machine. Usually, I put my card into the folder, so that the name ‘Sizzix’ is facing me. I tried that, with the result being that the bricks were raised, and the mortar between was sunken. This is normally the case in real life, but not the look I was going for. So I sprayed another card, then flipped the embossing folder over so the name ‘Sizzix’ was underneath facing away from me, and repeated the inking and spritzing of the now upper flap before embossing. Now the bricks were sunken and the mortar between raised. The bricks were also a darker colour due to the Walnut Stain. I dried it with a heat gun, before running a white pigment pad directly over the raised areas (to highlight the mortar), and sponged a bit more dark brown ink around the edges.

I stamped out the men twice, embossing the 2nd version and cutting them out to Magic Mount over the stamped image on the card. I used a black pad with clear embossing powder, as I didn’t have any Black embossing powder.
