Golden Sympathy

September 15, 2019

It was with great sadness that I made some Sympathy cards this week. One of our close friends’ mother passed away suddenly. Such a lovely, lovely lady, what I would call ‘the salt of the earth’ type. We often dropped by to have a chin-wag over a cuppa. She will be sorely missed.

My husband has known the family a lot longer than I have (over 50 years), so he was going to fill in the inside message. Still waiting… I know he is really struggling to find the right words to say. Some feelings no words can express.

My condolences go out to all others suffering a similar loss in their life. I hope you have the love and support of friends or family to help you through it. x

I like cards that are quick and easy, simple yet effective. I think this card falls into that category. mermaid belief 002

Tools: Tiny Butterfly Punch

  1. Spritz watercolour paper with water, then Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky Distress Stain sprays. Don’t be too enthusiastic or you’ll colour the entire card and that is not the effect we’re going for.
  2. When dry, stamp flower image to right-hand side in black Archival pad.
  3. The Sympathy set by Kaisercraft has 4 wording options. Stamp your chosen wording out in black ink onto white card. Matt with black card and adhere to bottom left of card front.
  4. Punch out 3 little butterflies in black card and glue onto card.
  5. Decorate flower heads with Frosted Lace Stickles.

Below is a slight variation of same card, just using another wording, dark blue stickles instead of white, and a less absorbent paper resulting in a different blending of the inks in the background. I also drew a white line down the center of the butterflies for their bodies and added antennae to each with a black pen.
