Peacocks

Peacocks are the epitome of beauty with their stunning colouration, and long stupendously ornate tail feathers. Their spiritual symbol offers lessons about self-love, honor, integrity and the importance of facing life’s challenges with courage and confidence, while still recognising the need for light-heartedness and laughter. When a peacock struts gracefully into your life, you may be entering a time of rebirth.

This peacock die was from a ‘Papercraft’ magazine. It’s quite a busy design, so I sponged the background using (Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron & Peacock Feathers) Distress Oxide inks, to add colour but not too much distraction. Not sure if I’m happy with the glitter on the tail feathers. I tried blue rhinestones first, but they were too big. [Thanks to Mary Poxon for the inspiration].

While on the subject of Peacocks, I did another card (below), creating a watercolour wash background using water and Distress re-inkers (Crushed Olive, Tumbeld Glass, Mowed Lawn & Peacock Feathers). I placed the coloured watercolour paper underneath the cutout space, then glued the peacock outline back in. I used a blue pencil to draw a faint outline inside each tail feather, then added dots of Liquid Pearls. This is a Poppystamps die called ‘Plumed Peacock‘. The wording was from Stamp-it. [Thanks to Marybeth Lopez for the inspiration].

  1. Love it! How elegant these peacocks are! The background colour blending complements the theme really well.
