Thinking of my father, and the empty spaces left behind…

stamps: Down by the Seaside 60-30059 by Inkadinkado; The Tide Recedes 4228F by Stamp-it

die: Tim Holtz Frameworks ‘Trellis’ siz659431

inks: Spun Sugar, Antique Linen & Weathered Wood Distress Stain Sprays

For this card I lifted out the trellis part, inked around the edges with a Weathered Wood Distress pad and Magic Mounted it back into place. I removed 2 of the shapes and cut out a single one from the background card which I placed above the empty spaces. The shape with birds on, I Magic Mounted up.

VARIATION:

stamps: Sandcastle 60-00558H by Inkadinkado; Waves 481E by All Night media; Walk with Me D13007 by Impression Obsession

die: Tim Holtz Frameworks ‘Trellis’ siz659431

inks: Spun Sugar, Antique Linen & Tumbled Glass Distress Stain Sprays

For this card I glued the trellis part down flat, then lifted out 3 shapes to leave the background showing through. The shapes beneath the sandcastle, I lifted out, sponged around the edges with sepia ink and replaced with Magic Mount under 1 side only to tilt them, the 2 at top tilted right, the bottom 2 left.

Beautiful Boats

deep as the ocean discover new oceans   life is a journey   adventure on the seas

Just in time for Father’s Day – more cards with a nautical theme! I did say I love boats didn’t I? The first two beached boats I mainly used chalk pastels to colour with, a great medium for covering larger areas quickly and easily. I then put crackle accents over the boat with the anchor. The second two cards, I was playing with different ways of creating waves. Both were coloured with Distress Stains and Sprays. The paper for the sailboat card was then torn into wavy strips, with the core white card showing through for the tips of the waves. I used mulberry paper for the fishing boat card, that I glued down with a matt glue, wrinkling as I went to create a wavy effect. The definition of Adventure states “an outing full of surprises”. It’s a bit hard to see in the scan, but there is a very large shark lurking just beneath the surface:)
