Fairy Thoughts

Now for something a little prettier – a walk through fairyland.

Now that I am posting my card images larger, all my faults & errors are more glaringly obvious. Might have to invest in one of those hinged stampers I think.

stamps: Fairy & leaves by Lavinia Stamps; SHE DD-1205A by Unity Stamps

die: Rabbits 269-N by Impression Obsession

stencil: DYS34216 by Dylusions

The background was created by sponging Distress inks (Wild Honey, Broken China & Worn Lipstick) over white cardstock, then laying over a circle stencil and spritzing water through. Lift off stencil and blot card with paper towel. The water will bleach away the colour leaving the pattern of the stencil behind. After stamping all images in black Archival ink, I added dots of Star Dust Stickles to flower centers.

gief class 013

This is the last card from my “Colours of Grief” card making class. Bit of a somber subject I know, but one that shouldn’t be ignored. Give someone you care about a hug today, or a phone call to let them know they MATTER. It’s so easy for us all to get wrapped up in our own busy lives and problems, sometimes we don’t realise what others are going through, or not coping with, until it’s too late.

Garden Poems

gaarden poems 002My sixth and final flower card for the week. I had a very productive day on Monday, but had to move on eventually to other jobs. The real world is always waiting on the other side of the craft room door.

Stamps: “Garden Poems” 3869K by Penny Black; “Create to Breathe” DD928A by Unity Stamp Co

The flowers were stamped onto a scrap of card from my “backgrounds box” and as usual I failed to write on the back what colours I had used. I normally work with 3  colours, so am guessing Distress Stains “Spiced Marmalade” and “Broken China” definitely, and as it looks like a brown has been added – possibly also “Frayed Burlap”. I then laid over Dylusions alphabet stencil and spritzed with water. Lifted off stencil and dried card immediately. The effect is subtle, but just added that extra bit of interest.

The flowers were coloured with watercolours as I wanted a soft, opaque look, then Glossy accents were put over the petals. The flower heads were decorated with “Vintage Photo” Distress Stickles and the stamens with Buttercup, Cantaloupe and Flamingo Liquid Pearls.
