Wise Words…

stamps: …with Journal 40-127 by Penny Black; Empowered Words DD-960A by Unity Stamp Co

stencil: Mini Elliptic TCW605s by The Crafters Workshop

As usual I could not get my photos in library to rotate!! Aaagh! So frustrating. Anyway, below is my first version of finished card, but upon viewing the photographed image it appeared washed out, so I went back in and darkened the surrounding sepia sponged area, gave her blue eyes, added more shading to her boots and t-shirt and stamped out wording again, lifting it up with Magic Mount over original. Her bangles and spirals on journal are foiled with gold and silver Fab Foils. I added Glossy Accents over her hair (applied with paint brush) and dots of Baby Blue Liquid Pearls for center of flowers. The circular stenciled area is highlighted with Wild Honey Distress Stickles. I sponged Tumbled Glass Distress ink inside the circle and used coloured pencils to colour everything in.

postal mannequin 023stamps: Postal Mannequin 8339P by Inkadinkado; Paris/New York J11671 and Suitcases from Time Travelers set CMS157 both by Stampers Anonymous; She DD1205A by Unity Stamp Co

inks: Jet Black & Sepia Archival Pads; Scattered Straw, Victorian Velvet & Weathered Wood Distress Pads; Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood & Bundled Sage Distress Stains Sprays

papers: Specialty White Card; Savannah & Blossom Bazzill Cards

accessories: Simple Banner die #836 By Poppy Stamps; Small Dress Forms Embossing Folder 1219-110 by Darice; Glitter Pen

adhesives: Two-sided Tape; Magic Mount

Tools: Big Shot Machine; Heatgun, Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Spritz white card with Weathered Wood, Tumbled Glass & Bundled Sage Distress Stain Sprays until covered to your satisfaction. The Specialty card tends to be a bit more water repellent than normal matt card, so you may want to spread the inks with your fingers or another piece of card to help cover the white areas. Dry with heatgun.
  2. Emboss with Dress Forms embossing folder through Big Shot machine. Go over pattern with sponging block dipped in Weathered Wood Distress pad to highlight raised mannequins images. Sponge edges of card with sepia ink, then attach to blossom (pink) matting, then Savannah (cream) backing card with two-sided tape.
  3. Stamp postal mannequin onto right side of card in black ink, then again onto scrap of white card. Cut out body of mannequin on scrap. Sponge Scattered Straw & Victorian Velvet Distress ink over mannequin body. postal mannequin 025Magic Mount this over mannequin image on main card.
  4. Stamp suitcases from Time Traveler set onto white scrap card with black ink. Cut out top 4 suitcases only and colour as you did the mannequin body. Stamp “She” wording across suitcases in black and then again onto main card beneath where the suitcases will be fixed. Stamp “She” wording once more onto more white scrap card.  Cut out strips of tiny typewriter script from wording, sponge with matching inks and adhere into place across suitcases. (This is to make the wording more legible, otherwise it’s too hard to read). Attach suitcases into place with two-sided tape. Outline the script words “she” and “dreams” with the glitter pen.
  5. Punch out the banner die twice in Big Shot machine from white scrap card. Colour with Scattered Straw & Victorian Velvet inks. Attach to top left of card front. (I glued the bottom banner & Magic mounted the top one).
  6. Stamp Paris/New York wording in black ink onto scrap from embossed mannequin background card. Cut out individual cities and fix to card front as desired.

butterfly formation 006I have a new butterfly die! Memory Box #99145 reverse Butterfly Collage die. The wording is from Unity Stamp Co’s Empowered Words DD-960A.

Cut the die from a piece of white kromekote (gloss) card which has been coloured with various Alcohol inks. Place plain ivory card beneath the cut-out to highlight the butterfly pattern. Lightly sponge the butterfly wings with a dark purple chalk and smudge some Lavender Sticbutterfly formation 007kles around the wing tips. Draw the butterfly bodies and antennae on with a black Zig pen.  Stamp the wording with a black Archival pad (note: don’t use a StazOn pad or it will re-act with the alcohol inks, and some dye pads may not dry on the gloss card). Mount finished card front onto backing layers to frame.
