Shell & Anchor

This is a Cuttlebug Shell Collage embossing folder from Provo Craft which I embossed in white card twice, cutting the large scallop shell only from the second one.

I used various Distress Stain Sprays to colour all. The large shell was coloured with Victorian Velvet, then I painted Perfect Pearl PP mist over it to give it it’s pearly sheen.

After cutting out and colouring dies of coral, wave, small shells and anchor, I assembled all onto card. The fish I cut out of frosted Shrink Plastic then shrunk down.

I applied some glue to edges of anchor and the 65 in number plate (I have numerous friends in that age bracket so I’m sure I’ll be able to find a suitable recipient for it). When dry and tacky, I laid gold Fab Foil sheet over to gild. I added touches of Stardust Stickles and some Liquid Pearls to various bits to highlight. Set aside to dry.

I remember in high school finding it difficult picking my subjects as I truly had no idea what I wanted to do as a career when I left. So hard when you’re still trying to figure yourself out, never mind everyone and everything else.

Spritz white card with water, then Distress Stain Sprays. Dry with a heatgun. Lay over stencil and sponge same inks through to correspond with background colours.

Stamp girl on separate card, colour her in with watercolour pencils, then cut out and glue onto main card. I added some stripes of Flamingo Liquid Pearls onto hat, some White Accents over her sholaces, Weathered Wood Crackle Paint onto bag and Silver Fab Foils to accents on bag.

Stamp wording in black at top left of card. Sponge around edge of card with sepia ink and attach to grey matting, then musk pink folded backing card.
