Scripted Rose

Inky backgrounds are one of my favourite things to do. This one is using Distress Stain Sprays Mustard Seed, Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord and Aged Mahogany. I applied a script wording stamp randomly over, inked with a Walnut Stain Distress pad.

The Rose was sponged with Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Aged Mahogany Distress Pads, the stems and leaves – Peeled PaintĀ and Forest Moss. I stamped the script wording over it also, then glazed with Glossy Accents using a paintbrush. Set aside to dry.

I drew a line down each leaf with a dark green pencil. Originally I placed the Rose directly onto the background, but felt it got lost a little, so added the plain yellow rectangle beneath to highlight it better. I sponged around all edges with sepia ink.

Stamp ‘Just for You’ wording onto scrap of same yellow card, cut to size, sponge edges with sepia and glue into place. Matt card front onto burgundy card layer, then folded backing card of mustard yellow.

Flower Vase

May 7, 2016

My first card from the flower stamps I took on my recent travels (checkout my facebook post or see below). I stamped rose vase onto a piece of card that was coloured with Distress Stains: Mustard Seed & Aged Mahogany, then stamped border image down the side of the card also in Aged Mahogany Distress ink. I coloured in roses with pencils, then added Glossy Accents over the top to highlight. The vase I painted with Buttercup Liquid Pearls. The wording was stamped in black Archival ink onto ivory card cut from Sizzix Mini Labels set 657214, sponged with Scattered Straw & Aged Mahogany Distress ink. I added 3 dots of Garnet Liquid Pearls under wording and lightly spritzed label with Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearl Mist.

Whenever I travel, I take with me my watercolour palette and some pencils, along with some stamped images to colour in. Everything folds flat so is quite easy to transport. There are always those moments on holiday when you have to entertain yourself (like sitting at the airport waiting for connecting flights). My version of the adult colouring-in books that are so trendy at the moment, but more practical, as my efforts are later turned into cards.
