This started off as a sympathy card, but I somehow deviated from the plan. I suppose it could still be used for that purpose, by simply placing the sympathy wording on the inside.

Elegance is an Attitude

October 29, 2016

20161028_214837Not all of us are born beautiful. We have to work with what we have and carry it off with as much style and grace as we can muster, ha, ha.

Continuing with my spate of Stampotique cards. I’m finding it very cathartic – releasing all my dark demons. Thanks Ellie:)

stamps: Glimmering Hope 6047 by Stampotique;  Elegance is… 3214C & Swirl background siset091 by Stamp-it

inks: Jet Black Archival Pad; Fired Brick, Broken China & Picket Fence Distress Stains

papers: White Matt Card; Raven & Lagoon Bazzill Cards; Silver Shimmer Paper

accessories: Crystal Glitter; Aqua Stickles; Pink Ribbon; Chalks; Glitter Pen

adhesives: Two-sided tape; Magic Mount; Glossy Accents; Tombo Liquid Glue

tools: Paintbrush; Scissors; Teflon Mat; Heatgun; Tonic Star Punch

  1. Create separate puddles of ink on teflon mat from the Fired Brick & Broken China Distress Stains. Swipe white card through. Repeat process until covered to your satisfaction. Dry with heatgun.
  2. Ink up swirl background stamp using Picket Fence Distress Stain. Stamp out over coloured card. Dry with heatgun.
  3. Matt coloured card onto black card, then affix to top of folded green backing card using two-sided tape.
  4. Stamp girl in black ink onto card just off-center. Her dress will flow below onto green card. Stamp her again onto scrap of white card. Colour in her dress with Fired Brick Distress Stain. Dry with heatgun. Apply Glossy Accents over dress with paintbrush and sprinkle over crystal glitter whilst still wet. Set aside to dry.
  5. When dry, cut out dress and bow. Wrap skinny pink ribbon around center of bow and Magic Mount into place over main image on card. Affix dress into place with two-sided tape.
  6. Apply some Aqua Stickles to bodice of girl and some Glossy Accents to her eyes.
  7. Stamp wording in black ink onto small piece of white card. Cut to size, mat onto black card and adhere to top left of card with two-sided tape. Smudge some turquoise chalk over wording with your fingertips. Punch out stars in silver paper (there are 3 sizes in this punch). Place a dot of glue where you want the stars to be, then stick stars on. Using a ruler, draw a line from wording plaque to stars with glitter pen (making sure your lines run parallel to one another).

Vintage Ladies

August 7, 2015

Lexie's elegant Lady  Silver Fox Elegant Lady   Stamp-it’s unmounted set094 by Yvette of the Vintage Ladies has always been a favourite of mine. The lady in peach (on left) was dressed by Lexie. I particularly love the material she has used for the dress and the way it is gathered with tiny pearls added. The card is mounted onto Cristina Re’s Deco paper sponged with Distress Spun Sugar, then some Bazzill card for backing. I did a slightly modified version of it (on right), using Distress re-inkers (stormy sky and fired brick) as watercolours instead of the material. Don’t you love the luxurious shawl in the metallic flowersoft?
