Grey Bugs

My drawer of grey/black card scraps is full to overflowing. Time to extract some patterns and attempt to assemble something reasonable from them. Their removal unfortunately has hardly made a dint. Time to ask myself – do I need to keep every single scrap of card?

The butterfly was stamped onto matt white card, the wings being stamped a second time onto vellum with a black Staz-On pad, cut out, then layered over original image. I only glued down the body to allow the wings to float up, then created dimension for the butterfly body with Black Accent. I felt the vellum softened the butterfly’s look to better match the delicate background papers.

The background script was from a piece of 12×12 Creative Imaginations acetate and the dragonfly paper from Bo Bunny. I stamped and gold embossed the 2 dragonflies onto some acetate too. When you heat the embossing powder, it causes the acetate to curl, but as they were dragonflies, I was quite happy for this to happen. It made the wings look like they had a bit of movement in them.

3D Card Boxes

January 31, 2016

3d Card Boxes are great as they can be adapted to any theme or colour scheme and are so dimensional and visually eye catching, yet can be folded flat for posting or storage. My Dad, who has dementia, was recently in respite for a few weeks, so I made the ladies that looked after him a box each as a token of my appreciation. They did a great job.
