The Sea has it’s Treasures

Silvery plankton the ‘web of life’, drift silently by

shimmering pearls within their shells in irritation lie

cruising fish and curious swimmers, keep a vigilant eye

searching for treasures, scanning for predators…

today is never a good day to die.

Colour a piece of watercolour paper with blue watercolours and while still wet, lay over some Glad Wrap and scrunch up to create wrinkles. Leave to dry.

Cut short lengths of Fusable Webbing. Fold one in half and hold in place with a satay stick or similar. Heat with a heat gun. You need to work quickly. As soon as the webbing starts to melt, pour embossing powder over, tip off excess, then heat. As the embossing powder melts, the webbing will also change.

Stamp out the fish in black onto watercolour paper and colour in as desired. I added silver detail lines to the fins, some silver Liquid Pearls to his lips, dot of black Accent for his eyeball, smeared Turquoise Stickles over his upper body and finally spritzed some Brushed Pewter Distress Stain Sprays overall. When dry I cut him in half, attached Magic Mount beneath and positioned onto card.

Cut out coral and seaweed from Sea Plants die set in white card. Sponge over relevant colour inks.

I then decorated the seaweed with splotches of Lettuce green Adirondack Dimensional Pearls. Set aside to dry. The coral I tipped over some Spiced marigold and Fired Brick Distress Embossing powder then heatset. This Distress powder dries dull and gritty like sandpaper, not shiny like normal embossing powder, so it’s the perfect finished effect for the coral.  Glue into position at base of card.

Cut loop off top of charm shell with metal pliers. Glue flat-back pearl into shell then glue shell onto card.

Stamp the diver in black ink onto top left of card. Colour in with watercolours. Apply Glossy Accents to his mask and Stardust Stickles to arising bubbles. Set aside to dry.

Attach finished card front to red and orange mattings, then folded pale blue backing card with two-sided tape.
