Winter Tree

winter tree

One of my favourite techniques at the moment – simple but effective. Apply multiple ink colours to a small acrylic block directly from your ink pads. I have used Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky and Walnut Stain Distress Pads. Some people spritz their block with water at this stage, but I prefer to spritz my watercolour paper with water instead. Flip your block colour side down onto wet paper, hold, then lift off. The inks will start spreading out. The results will always be slightly different each time you do this technique, depending on how much ink and water you add. I quite like the drippy effect it creates sometimes as it can look like the roots of the trees going down into the ground. You can manipulate the effect slightly with a waterbrush if you feel the need. When you are happy with the way it looks, dry with a heatgun. Stamp your tree with black Archival pad and add wording of choice.
