stamps: Winter Trees SKU 3×505521 by Deep Red; Joy Trio 3063B by Stamp-it

inks: Jet Black Archival Pad; Midnight & London Blue Dylusions Sprays; Silver Alcohol Ink

papers: Watercolour Paper; Mediterranean & Teal Bazzill Cards

accessories: Silver Cord

adhesives: Two-sided Tape; Magic Mount

tools: Notched Corner Punch; Water Spritzer; Clear Film stencil frame; Scalpel;(clean) pizza box; Heatgun; Acrylic block

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Cut a rectangular hole in piece of clear film to fit over watercolour paper. This is to provide a stencil for when you spray the inks onto the watercolour paper, so that the colour stays within that rough area and don’t cover the whole paper. I wanted the edges to remain white.
  2. Spraying inks can be a bit messy, so I use an old pizza box (clean of course). Line with newspaper to soak up the excess ink (change the paper regularly). Then I put some white paper over newspaper in case the ink from the newspaper should transfer onto my work.
  3. Lay watercolour paper in box, cover with clear stencil, making sure it is lined up so there is equal amount of border coverage on all sides. Spritz watercolour paper with water, then blue inks. I didn’t want the ink edges to be straight, but try to ensure the inks don’t bleed under the frame too much. (Have a wet paint brush and some paper towel on hand to mop up and dilute stains if this happens). When happy with coverage – dry with heatgun or set aside to dry naturally.
  4. Stamp trees onto card with black ink.
  5. Squirt some Silver Alcohol ink onto acrylic block and pick up with old toothbrush. Hold over card and run your thumb along toothbrush bristles to create splatter effect across card. Hopefully this will resemble stars in the night sky:)
  6. Stamp peace wording only (from trio of options) onto scrap of card in black ink. Cut to desired size and edge with black ink. Magic Mount onto card.
  7. Using Punch, cut notches out of the corners of the card. Secure a piece of silver cord to the back of card and wind the cord through and around each notch to form frame.
  8. Using two-sided tape, adhere card front to teal matting, then darker blue folded card.
