Free Spirit Butterfly Wreath

Set free your creative spirit! Let it fly!

free spirit 005 My energy is so often scattered – multi-tasking I believe it’s called, something we women are good at. But it is nice to be able to focus on just one object and explore it’s possibilities before moving onto the next. My 3rd card using the Memory Box die “Butterfly Wreath”. This time I didn’t throw any bits away, including the background card I cut it from.

  1. Cut wreath from ivory card. Sponge around with Antique Linen Distress pad. Matt ivory card onto pale blue card and cut a circle from the center of the blue card (lining up with center of wreath) with circle cutter or die. Adhere ivory and blue card layers onto fawn coloured backing card.
  2. Glue butterfly wreath outline back into place in center of cut-out. I have long decided ‘glue’ and me will never be best friends. This is a little tricky to do as the outline is wet with glue and so delicate it easily stretches out of shape. In hind-sight would have been better to cut it out of supersheet/jac paper, or just apply glue to the card itself rather than the thin outline.
  3. Sponge around individual butterflies with Spun Sugar Distress pad. I then decorated some of them with rub-ons from Fancy Pants ‘Fancy-free’ collection.  The ‘Free Spirit’ wording also came from this same sheet of rub-ons. Position butterflies in different poses back into wreath. Magic Mount has been added beneath some wings. Cut out butterfly antennae in dark brown card and add to decorated butterflies.free spirit 006
  4. Stamp Kaisercraft “Dictonary Meanings” randomly over ivory card in Sepia Archival ink. free spirit 007
