Butterfly Flurry

butterfly montage

Butterflies galore! What’s not to like?

Stamps: “Butterfly Study” #90305 by Stamps Happen; Tiny Birthday 4092C by Stamp-It Australia; Paisley Border 2399K by Penny Black

The background was created by swishing a piece of white card through puddles of  “Scattered Straw”, “Spiced Marmalade” and “Crushed Olive” Distress Stains. Heat set. Stamped the Paisley border over it in pale green ink to create another layer of interest in the background. Stamped the Butterfly montage in black Archival, and a second time onto smaller scrap of white card so I could colour in the main center butterfly with watercolours, cut it out and magic mounted it over complete stamped image. I then spread Glossy Accents over its wings with a paint brush and sprinkled clear glitter along edges of wings while still wet. I coloured the remaining butterflies loosely with white pencil for wings and brown for bodies. I sponged around outer border with Sepia Archival ink. The Happy Birthday was stamped in black ink onto scrap of ivory card, sponged around edge in Sepia ink and magic mounted onto card.butterfly montage close

  1. The contrasting colour on the butterfly is stunning. I love your choice of colours. Beautiful!
