Sandy Shores

This background was created with alcohol inks. Wasn’t intentional, but I think it looks similar to the shape of Australia. I love the little waves in the center.

I squirted some Blending Solution onto teflon mat, then laid down stripes of Caramel, Butterscotch and Stream Alcohol inks. The cardstock I used for these 3 cards was white Kromekote, which is a gloss card. (The inks are not as vibrant as they would be if using Yupo paper). I placed the gloss side down over inks and swiped card through sideways, lifting off before I reached the outer edge.

With the inks left on the matt, I quickly swiped another card through before they dried. This one I turned so that the sandy colour was at the bottom. I had to stop myself adding any embellishments. Kept it simple and serene.

Below is another background I made using the Caramel and Stream colours only. While still wet, I blew on the inks to push them outwards. Afterwards, I dipped a paintbrush into Blending Solution and dotted it about to create tracks. I wasn’t really happy with the results, especially the caramel drips didn’t look organic enough which is why I sponged Tea Dye Distress inks around top half. I was going to put it in reject box, but then decided to just add some stamps and see where it went. Felt it had a bit of an Aussie outback vibe about it.
