Silence of the Stars

20161013_160905A simple card with an Aussie feel,  in a calming blue and white colour palette. My original intention was to form the stars into the shape of the Southern Cross, but my stars were too large:(

stamps: Grass Tree Christmas 4909E and Christmas Mini 3044B both by Stamp-it

inks: Clear Versamark Pad; Prussian Blue and Peacock Color Box Pads

papers: White Matt Card; Lakeshore Bazzill Card

accessories: White Embossing Powder ; Ribbon; Silver Stickles

adhesives: Two-sided Tape; Tombo Liquid Glue

tools: Star Punch; Scissors; Heatgun; Sponging Block

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Stamp grass trees with clear pad and emboss in white. Sponge over image with blue inks, blending from dark to light with the aid of a sponging block. Rub a clean tissue over when done to ensure there is no ink sitting on top of the embossing that may smudge later.
  2. Cut out 5 stars in white using small punch. Glue into place. Smear with silver Stickles and set aside to dry.20161013_150644
  3. Tear edge of piece of white card to roughly fit the ground shape under grass trees. Wrap thin blue ribbon around twice and secure at back with tape. Fix this card into place at bottom of sponged card. Silver emboss tiny Christmas wording onto scrap of white card. Cut into tag shape and glue into place where ribbon intersects with itself. Tie tiny bow with leftover ribbon and glue at apex of tag.
  4. With two-sided tape, attach finished card front onto matting of Lakeshore card, then folded white backing card. 20161013_15303620161013_160844
