Postal Poinsettia

20161003_115224stamps: Silhouette Poinsettia 3039K by Penny Black; Santa Post 4142C by Stamp-it

inks: Jet Black & Sepia Archival Pads; Red & Green texters

papers: White Matt Card; Lily Pad & Gecko Bazzill Cards; Red Corrugated Card

accessories: Buttercup Liquid Pearls

adhesives: Two-sided Tape; Magic Mount

tools: Stamp Decorative Edge Scissors; Sponge Block; Water Mister; Heatgun

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Turn stamp over and colour image with texters directly onto the rubber. Spritz rubber lightly with fine mist of water to re-moisten (as some of it may have dried by the time you finish colouring). Stamp out into center of white matt card. 20161002_124644
  2. Re-colour main flower and place small rectangle of white card over image (ensuring your small piece of card is straight with the edges of larger white card). Press gently with fingertips then lift off. Dry with heatgun. Now lightly sponge edges with sepia ink. Attach this to slightly larger square of white card, who’s edges have been cut into decorative ‘stamp’ border with scissors. Sponge the edges of this with sepia also.
  3. Affix poinsettia ‘stamp’ over main poinsettia image with two-sided tape. Stamp ‘Santa post’ stamp along bottom edge in black ink.
  4. Adhere poinsettia card onto light green matting with two-sided tape. Position red corrugated strip at left-hand side of folded green backing card. Because of the thickness of the corrugation, when fixing the layered poinsettia card onto the backing card, I used two-sided tape where it sat above the corrugated card, but Magic Mount under the side that went straight onto the backing card.
  5. Place dots of Buttercup Liquid Pearls at the center of each poinsettia flower. Set aside for it to dry.

NOTE:  If you do this same technique with kromekote (gloss card) instead of white matt, you will get a smoother, brighter finish. I quite like the slight grunginess of the matt finish myself, but you might prefer this alternative.20161009_170000
