Tissue Box Bird

tissue bird 003 Looking around for inspiration and I spied this tissue box. Rather than throw it in the bin, I decided to give it a second life by recycling it. You can get two full bird bodies from each box (unfortunately the legs are not complete). The bird on one side is larger than the other, which I didn’t realise at first. Probably would have looked better with the slightly smaller bird. Never mind. I think the bird is pretty enough to use as it is, but for this card, wanted just it’s shape. If you are just using it’s shape, there nothing stopping you from turning it over so that the bird is facing the other way.

For this card: I cut out the bird body, then painted it over with Snowcap Adirondack Dabber Paint. When dry, I added various other shades of paint (mainly Cloudy Blue, Aqua & Lemonade Adirondack Dabbers), till I was happy with the finished look. I used pencils to add a little definition on the wings and sponged some inks over too (Stormy Sky & Mustard Seed Distress & Sepia Archival pads) for shading. I added a dot of Glossy Accents for its eye and highlighted with a dot of white from a sharpie pen when dry.tissue bird 001
