Shimmery Bird Cages

Using stencils with Lindy’s Stamp Gang ‘Bluebeard Blue Violet’ Moonshadow Mist. These inks come out a brown tea colour, but when dry you can see subtle shimmers of colour, this one being a purple tone. The powders tend to be attracted to the edges of the pastes too. Very hard to see in the photo, especially with my dodgy photography skills sorry. The paste I used was a white shimmer and I added some silver foil to highlight parts of the main cage bars, so lots of light reflecting off this one.

First add your texture paste through stencil with the aid of a palette knife. (Note: I used silver paste for this photo, as the white I used in the above card wouldn’t show up against the white card background). Stencil is ‘Mini Birds of a Feather’ TCW207s by Crafters Workshop.

Spray card with Moonshadow Mist. Dry with Heatgun.  As the stencil was quite wide, I cut the design in half and got 2 card front from it.

When dry, I tore the bottom right hand corner and sponged the edges with sepia ink, then matted onto some brown card, which I also tore to match. I then layered onto a piece of Penny Black collage paper I have had for years (so I doubt is still available) and then onto an ivory folded backing card which I also sponged with sepia ink along the edges.

Lastly I painted the leaves with a light metallic green paint and the birds with some purple Rub-on. I added a clear rhinestone to top of each cage and a bow of string to the top of each chain. Then I went over some of the cage bars with a Sailor Glue Pen and when dry, laid silver Fab Foil over to highlight it’s pattern.
